Handling air is no light task. Air handlers are the unspoken heroes, doing the grunt work to keep your home comfortable.

Air handlers work with heat pumps and air conditioners to circulate air throughout the ductwork inside your Lumberton, NC, home. They typically contain a blower, air filter, and evaporator coil. If you have a furnace, you probably do not need an air handler, since your furnace system will have a blower component that functions similarly to an air handler in circulating air.

A furnace also works as an air handler for your AC system. But if you have a heat pump or air conditioning system without a furnace, you will need an air handler.

These quiet, sleek systems provide year-round comfort while improving indoor air quality (IAQ).

Our Lumberton, NC, heating and cooling specialists at Gore Plumbing, Heating & Air are on call waiting to answer your questions about air handlers. We supplement our years of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) experience by keeping up to date on all the latest innovations and trends.

“Our HVAC unit was installed by your company 4 years ago. We have a contract for regular maintenance and we ensure regular appointments are completed. On 10/1/25 your technician came up for one such regular maintenance appointment. We've had no issues with the unit, NONE. He starts his work, goes to the side of the house and makes a phone call, and suddenly returns to say we need a new motor. After a bit, he then says we need a new capacitor. Now, the motor is under warranty but to install it you say we have to pay $780. OUR UNIT WAS NOT HAVING ANY ISSUES AND SUDDENLY ALL THESE THINGS NEED REPLACED. In the evening we go to turn down the temp in the house and now nothing works. It would appear y'all did something to break the unit to create "necessary" repairs on a unit that was having ZERO issues prior to your technician coming out. Try to explain to us how a unit that is maintained and only 4 years old suddenly, without any prior indications of issues, needs these repairs/replacements as we approach the 5 year warranty? Did you feel that you could create these issues so that you can get payment (easy money) for doing the replacements. We need to understand how our unit, with no issues and maintained by your company, suddenly had these issues and now isn't working at all after you serviced it. You send out your young son, on his own, to service units. These units cost us consumers substancial money and you want a little bit completing service calls on their own. Somehow I just knew, with that 1st service visit by your 17 year old son, that we went with the wrong company.”
